Seymour Island and Bachas Beach, Galapagos

2 October 2003.

We landed on the Seymour island to see mating Frigte birds and we weren't disappointed. These birds are seriously cool.

... but it's now about 5 days since we slept more than a few hours!

Here is a male and a female frigate. They are brilliant birds. Here you can see the male puffing out his chest to attract the female.

The female seems somewhat disinterested in the Stanley / Barnes / insert single friends name here.

We were lucky to see a few males together, whenever the female flies above them they sit back, puff their chest out and make this really unusual noise whacking their beaks together.  It was spectacular to watch and we even got to see the whole mating act which was over in a few seconds.

The Galapagos Islands are famous for their Blue Footed boobies.  They look so gormless. Jason liked to play with the boobies by teasing them until they would look up at the camera.

Jason getting bored of Flamingos not posing for the camera.... but looking very cool in a bed-head and I don't care kind of way.

More Iguanas .....

Pencil sea urchin.
