Espanola Island, Galapagos

30 September 2003.

Another night journey of no sleep took us to Espanola Island. There was so much to see so it was impossible to get tired.

We arrived to find about 50 of these Iguanas lying around. It wasn't warm enough for them to be hunting yet so they bathe in the sun and spit salty snot at us and each other.

This is a very friendly ....... bird.

A baby albatross.  The mothers leave the young on the nest while they search for food. It is quite sad to see them looking so lost and alone.

This adult Albatross is a friendly lass.

Claire is getting braver, this little sea-lion was sooo cute.  Jason couldn't tear her away from it.... he had to leave her there.

Everyday we snorkelled for a couple of hours.  Jason would help Claire who had no snorkel and could only breathe for a while under water.

He grabbed her at one stage and was highly delighted to have found two sharks.  The adrenalin started pumping at that stage. Very cool.... Our guides standing joke was that the white tip shark is a vegetarian and fun to pull the tail of.

Jason believed him for 5 days, 4 sharks and 1 tail pull.... before he laughed his arse off about what an idiot he was!
